Hey guys, i just wanted to post something that would provoke some contemplative conversation. i was amused for a while by everyone freaking out over joe leaving, and all the "i love jessy"'s. but i just kind of wanted to get connected with some adult fans like myself who have the ability to decide 6 hours before a concert, to scrape together a pack of friends and drive 4 hours to the concert without having to ask for permission (or money) to do so ... haha.

CALLING GENERATION X!

Hahahahaha Amen to that one!!!!!!!!!!!! I was born in '83 and that is the best...deciding last minute to go to a concert and drive 4 hours (or more sometimes!) to go to a concert without having to beg and plead your parents to take you....hahahahahahaha I love being an "adult"! smile.gif

oh yeah, good times!! i'm also a sound tech, so i love that i can stay after and help them pack up and stuff ... no curfew!! haha. it's always great though, because they really do appreciate all the help they can get, i'm sure they want to get out of there as soon as they can. i just can't believe they all drive, with as much exercise as they do on stage, i would think they would at least bring a friend along to drive after concerts and stuff! i would be exhausted if i had to do an energetic concert and then hop in a van and drive for the next 2 hours!

Ok that is me...I am 42 seen Falling Up 4 or 5 times now! I go to shows whenever I feel like it.Or at least when my family can deal with me going.

alright, it's going on myspace ..... you're my hero!

I guess I wish I was born in '84 or before. I was born in '87, but I have to say that I'm not one of those teeny bopper girls that go "Oh my gosh! I love Jessy! He's so hot!" Might as well be in love with nsync or the backstreet boys. Hahaha, I love last minute concerts. One time, I drove to a concert 2 hours away, by myself, and I didn't get lost. Not a great navigator, but it was fun. Sad to say, I only stayed for 30 minutes because I didn't want to see any of the other bands, but it was still fun.

Far84- 09-20-2005
ha, i know, everyone wishes they were born in '84 .... jk, jk! that rocks though, you're on the verge of adulthood, cause that's what it's all about ... driving long hours to see a band, haha.

I'm a hip grandma and been to numerous FU shows but only in Oregon and Washington. What do you other "adults" appreciate about this band that is different from other rock bands? And what do you enjoy about these shows to cause you to drive hours to attend?

just wonderin

well, at least at first, i thought falling up was good, not my favorite band, but then i went to a concert and i was hooked, the adrenaline rush is what keeps me going to the concerts. but what truly makes me a falling up fan, is the day i was just really seeking after the Lord, i had been going through those times when God takes away the "feeling" of being in love to truly see if you will seek after him, and i was just so exhausted spiritually and i looked on my bed stand and the cd cover for crashings was there and i started reading it, and by the time i got to "falling in love" i was crying. crashings is a love poem, every single one of them, a love poem to God. it gave a completely different perspective of their songs, now i can worship and sing love to my Lord. "divinty" is my favorite song lyrically, it starts out with just a beautiful picture of love, of Jesus holding all these souls in his scarred hands.

on another note, i think it's awesome that you go to concerts! i love how you've found that balance between responsibility and fun, so many times i see extremes of people either too immature or too serious. i hope i can be like you when i'm a grandma!

ok this thread is annoying me. o and no i'm not an adult but i don't usually have to beg my parents to let me go to a concert i just have to ask

Far84- 09-21-2005
why is it annoying you? i never said you had to beg your parents. when did i say that? you just said exactly what i said, you have to ask your parents if you can go. and that's a good thing, you should until you become an adult and you don't have to. i really don't understand why you're annoyed ...

i'm 19, but my parents, especially my dad, think they have the right to run my life and won't let me make decisions. i.e. my dad said i can't drive 2 hours by myself to see Stryper with a friend of mine that lives in the town where the show is happening.

i think as you look back on this time of your life, you will find that your dad especially , was most concerned with your safety-not trying to "run your life" as your perception is now. As for the show you refer to: most shows end late, meet the band time ends even later and with a 2 hour drive following that by yourself-I'd be concerned for you too. It may be a different matter if you were making the drive with someone else from your town. Just a thought from someone older and hopefully a bit wiser.

Far84- 09-23-2005
i agree, it's funny how you can think that your parents are trying to run your life, but then i see myself now with my nephews and niece and i just freak out! "no you can't do that! no, just cause i don't like it!" parents seem to have this kind of God given pyschic ability that they can tell if something is going to happen if you go. you might never know, but if your dad did let you go, there might have been a really bad accident that you might have been involved in, you'll never know that, but it's possible! there are so many ways that the Lord spares us from physical pain, it seems like a jail, but when you're able to do things on your own, you'll see what we're talking about. i just want to encourage you to remember to always honor your parents, because the Lord knows your parents, he put you with them for a reason, and though it may seem difficult (Lord knows we all struggle with it) they ultimatly deserve your respect. and even if you don't feel they deserve respect, they do because God said they do. So be blessed knowing that your dad does love you, more than you might know.

I think that it's great that you are reaching out to fans that are your age, but come on, it seems like you are putting down people younger than you. I think that it's great to be young and everything like that. Just don't be too eager to rush into "adulthood" because very SOON you will be wishing you too were younger.

just my opinion

By the way, I'm not biased, I am 24 myself.
